Create it. Refine it. Exhibit it. Art Explosion is an immersive studio experience where young artists explore how ideas transform into finished works of art. Through hands-on experimentation with multiple media — from painting and sculpture to mixed media and digital design — campers learn to think like artists while developing technical skills and creative confidence. Grounded in Virginia K–5 Standards of Learning and inspired by real galleries, studios, and outdoor spaces, this week invites campers to take creative risks, discover their artistic voice, and see their ideas come vividly to life. 🔍 Big Question: How can we use different media to express ideas and emotions? 🧠 What Campers Will Explore: 🎨 Arts: Studio practice across diverse media 🧪 Science: Understanding artistic materials 📐 Math: Symmetry, pattern, and spatial design 💻 Technology: Digital art tools 🔄 Engineering: The design cycle — plan, create, revise 🚀 Signature Project: Campers will curate and launch their very own student-run LAB art gallery, selecting pieces, designing the exhibition space, and presenting their work to an authentic audience.
