Service Description
Build it. Navigate it. Test it. Survive it. What does it really take to thrive in the wild? In Camp Wildcraft, explorers step into the role of outdoor engineers and environmental scientists as they develop practical survival skills through hands-on challenges and real-world adventures. Grounded in Virginia K–5 Standards of Learning and brought to life across local parks and nature preserves, this immersive week strengthens confidence, resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving — all while getting kids moving, thinking, and exploring the natural world. 🔍 Big Question: What survival skills do we need to thrive outdoors? 🧠 What Campers Will Explore: 🌿 Science: Ecosystems and environmental awareness 🧭 Technology: Navigation and mapping skills ✏️ Arts: Field journaling and observational drawing 📏 Math: Estimation and measurement in real-world settings 🏕️ Engineering: Shelter design and emergency planning 🚀 Signature Project: Campers will design and build survival shelters while developing emergency preparedness plans, applying engineering principles, spatial reasoning, and teamwork to test their solutions in authentic outdoor environments. By the end of the week, explorers won’t just understand survival concepts — they’ll have practiced them. 🌎 Adventure-Based Learning: We believe the best classroom is the real world. This week’s destinations include... M: Ida Lee Park — Skill building and team challenges T: Potomac Crossing Park — Navigation practice W: Banshee Reeks Nature Preserve — Ecosystem study Th: UP!
