Test it. Design it. Rescue it. Understand it. Splash Smart combines summer energy with essential real-world skills as campers learn what it truly means to stay safe in and around water. Through hands-on engineering challenges, scientific investigations, and creative problem-solving, explorers build both competence and confidence while developing lifelong safety awareness. Grounded in Virginia K–5 Standards of Learning and supported by local safety professionals, this immersive week empowers children to become informed, capable, and safety-minded water explorers. 🔍 Big Question: What do we need to know to stay safe in and around water? 🧠 What Campers Will Explore: 💧 Science: Water systems and buoyancy 🦺 Technology: Safety tools and rescue equipment 🎨 Arts: Public safety campaign design 📊 Math: Volume, measurement, and flotation testing ⚙️ Engineering: Buoy and rescue device design 🚀 Signature Project: Campers will design and test flotation and rescue devices while creating their own water-safety public service campaigns, applying engineering thinking to real-world scenarios.
